About the Role

The Lead Guide is an experienced educator who fosters independence, self-discovery, and a love of learning in students. They create a prepared environment, observe individual interests, and tailor activities accordingly. The guide mentors and upholds Montessori principles, collaborating with parents and colleagues to support holistic child development.

Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Planning and Instruction

  • Preparing the environment: Plan and implement high-quality instruction for daily individual student lessons in alignment with the Montessori method,  and other supplementary materials

  • Submit lesson plans for review and incorporate feedback into planning

  • Regularly observe students to inform instruction. Record daily observation notes and collect assessment data as needed

  • Prepare Montessori works, materials, and organize the classroom

  • Create and implement remediation plans using the Response to Intervention and Instruction model from observational, academic, and behavioral data

  • Teach children of diverse needs in an inclusive environment; implement appropriate IEP goals with support from the Student Support Team / special education staff.

  • Serve as a mentor and point of contact for a small group of students as assigned at the beginning of the year

Classroom Culture

  • Foster habits of excellence, order, and courtesy through practices like connecting before redirecting, using a warm tone, matching children with tasks, presenting virtuous literature, and sharing responsibility for all children.

  • Be a model of character and strive toward virtue for students

  • Supervise students within the classroom and outside of the classroom: on the playground, during bathroom breaks, at lunchtime, and on field trips

Family Communication

  • Lead classroom family communication and parent teacher conferences

  • Prepare monthly progress reports and quarterly report cards

Professional Development and Relationships

  • Observe and provide feedback to peers/assistant guide

  • Lead formal check-in with an assistant guide at least weekly. Conduct informal conversations and collaborative activities daily

  • Participate in formal check-in with an assigned coach based on an approved cadence

  • Engage in teacher meetings, team planning, professional development, and data reviews

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education or a related field

  • Montessori Credentials OR willing to work toward certification through a job-embedded pathway

  • Committed to the mission and core values of Invictus Nashville

  • Two or more years of effective teaching experience in urban schools in high-need communities and/or Montessori environments (preferred)

  • Knowledge of curriculum content and children’s developmental needs

  • Flexibility, initiative, and personal responsibility to work in a fast-paced startup environment

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Skills in instructional practices and classroom management for student achievement

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and other members of the Invictus Nashville community

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in teams with a wide range of individuals

  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and diverse learning community

  • Experience and evidence of ability to foster collaboration and teamwork among diverse groups of students

This position may require up to 15% of travel.

Compensation

Invictus Nashville offers full-time employees competitive salaries and benefits options. As indicated below, individuals hired in this role have the following salary range associated with their experience: $55,000 -$70,000
