Mentorship
Invictus students will begin each day with their small mentoring groups. Alongside their daily group mentoring houses, each student will also have one-to-one meetings with their mentor each week.
Mentorship Groups
All Invictus teachers have a mentoring group and meet with their students weekly during the mornings. During these group meetings, they might discuss:
-
Long-term and short-term academic, social, emotional or other goals
-
New social or professional skills and how to practice them in their day to day
-
Challenge each other and provide and accountability thus building responsibility.
-
Celebrate successes, discuss reasons for roadblocks, and talk about areas of learning opportunity.
Mentorship One-on-One Check-Ins
Students meet weekly with their teacher-mentors to discuss their progress at school, using a discussion guide to prepare for these conversations. These sessions build a deep connection and foundation of trust, enabling honest discussions about both struggles and successes. During each meeting, students reflect on what went well and what didn’t during the previous week, while mentors provide valuable feedback and suggestions. This process helps students refine existing goals or set new ones based on their recent experiences. Over time, students become more skilled at goal-setting and planning, learning to identify the most important tasks to focus on each week.
